parkerc341 Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Hey all, I just wanted to ask others opinions on if U-Boat hunting with say the Mosquito is a possibility with the BoN expansion, since from my knowledge, Mosquitoes were used in this role from 43 onward.
PatrickAWlson Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 We have some submarines and they can dive, so it would be up to mission makers to use that. Not sure if we actually have a German submarine but the ones we do have will serve if need be. 2
Asgar Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 That's a good question, out of all the assets we've seen being developed I don't think Germans submarines were among them. But I'm pretty sure the German navy ordered multiple submarines into the Channel as soon as High Command was aware of what was happening, so we should have some U-Boot activity especially in the days after D-Day. I'd love to see some Type VIIs

I'd love to see some Type VIIs Yes, there were some U-Boats and E-Boats, and even a few minelayers. IMHO, we could do with a British Motor Gun Boat to counter the E-Boats. But a Type VIII to complement the Type II already in the sim would be a valuable addition. Btw. British Avengers flying from land bases were used for patrols along the French coast during Normandy. However, they were flying at night (and I think at least some of them, perhaps all, were radar equipped). But that is a potential way to get Avengers as collector aircraft without needing to do carrier operations or the Pacific.
352ndOscar Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 There was a large E-Boat base on the east side of the Seine River at Le Havre that was the subject of many attacks by the Royal Navy and Air Force - before and after D-Day

I built a group where the sub dives when attacked, (or an enemy aircraft is spotted) then resurfaces when the coast is clear. He’ll repeat as necessary. 2 1 2

That group is very recommendable ... i bought a special set of VR glasses, and a better high res monitor just to see the little periscope's trails to chase them up. Also: LizLemon's torpedoes MOD is a must have for that ... Edited May 9, 2022 by jollyjack
Jade_Monkey Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 (edited) Yes, we already have a german uboat, called subtype2b Edited May 9, 2022 by Jade_Monkey

It would be nice if they didn't dive too quickly...........?

What I would also like to see is a German torpedo boat. They were operating from Le Havre and sank Norwegian destroyer Svenner on D-Day. Kriegsmarine torpdeo boats were basically smaller destroyers, not to be confused with E-boats. 1
Ribbon Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 TBH i wouldn't notice if the sub is Acula or Ohio nuclear class submarine, same goes for the torpedo boats, vehicles and ships! I would be perfectly fine if devs used universal models for all countries! I'd rather they spend time modeling content that is playable for example torpedo bomber for Normandy, Ju88a4 torpedo modification or ju88a17!

Yes! This was my favourite mission in RoF with the Felix.

Perfect modeling is great but I will use what I have. The Russian landing craft in my Kuban invasion scenario are flying swastikas ... or at least partial swastikas. I'll change it when we get Normandy delivered.
