RFC: Il-2 data export protocol proposal

Hi all,

 

The Il-2 developers have asked for concrete proposals for a data export format that would allow external programs to query the internal game state.  I would love to have access to game data so I can enable the landing gear indicator LEDs on my Honeycomb Bravo throttle quadrant, so I drew up an RFC with my proposed data export protocol.

I've published the RFC as a Google Doc with comments allowed.  Feedback is welcome!  I hope with the community's input we can come up with a solid protocol that both the Il-2 developers and hardware modders enjoy working with.

Garafax, I'd recommend getting in touch with Blorg, who's the creator of IL-2 Dials (Instrument Panel App), if you haven't already. Blorg may be able to offer some useful input, having developed an application that accesses sim data in an 'unofficial' way.
