TIPS:

How to complete the long and tedious missions as a Luftwaffe fighter pilot on the Rhineland front. I think there are only FREE HUNT missions where Tom Thumb lost his slippers.

So that they do not become too long, the ideal is to go out on the mission already in the air. (The path to the target is shortened a bit)

You must be the "commander" so that you can make changes to some waypoint settings. For example, in the missions in which you go FREE HUNTING (I think all of them) I position myself as the leader of the 6 or 8 devices that can be placed to be able to give orders to the AI. Although I know they don't obey, but that's another story… of IL2Sturmovik's AI. I enter the section where you can configure your plane and that of your travel companions. Take the initiative to make them obey you a little. Then you go to the route tab and here you can modify the heights or levels in meters that you want your planes to do in the whole AI controlled mode in terms of waypoints. Normally the allied fighters are at 5,000 or 6,000 meters of altitude, more or less.

You don't want to take down the entire enemy formation, you don't have unlimited ammo, and select only unsuspecting AIs that are left hanging and isolated from their group. Be very careful here, or you will find yourself being chased by 6 Spifires or P51 Mustangs.

Obverse: Rhineland 1944
Plane: Bf-109 G14 I./JG3
Aerodrome: Venlo in quadrant 1619
Landing airfield near the border: Paderborn in quadrant 1237
Rank: Commander
“On Air Departure” Settings
Action point heights 5,000 or 6,000 m

Do not try to return to your base, it is very boring, better land in some base within the blue territory. The only thing you lose is the plane that the Luftwaffe then takes care of returning to you over time, lol...

Hello !

Thanks for the tips.

I still have a question about the "end" of the mission.

Usualy, if I'm bored and don't want to go back to base (even if I love to land), I just "end mission" when my objectives are complete.

I end it in the blue zone, so it just say that the fly was not completed but the mission was.

Until now, I didn't saw drawback from doing it. Maybe I'm wrong ?

What's the wrong side of "ending a mission" while objectives are ended but you have not landed ?

(I typically do that when I have more than 100km to do..)
