FC 1 or 2?

Hello, old RoF pilot, getting back into the game.

As the topic questions. These are two separate releases yes?

So start with 1?

Separate releases. And you can start with either. Just go for which ever volume has the plane-set that on balance interests you the most IMHO.
 

However do be aware that as FC2 is in early access there is at the moment no map. The aircraft have all now been released though. For MP it is not a requirement that you own the map in use by the server. So you could use your FC2 planes on the Flugpark server that runs the FC1 map for example. It’s just that you won’t have a WW1 map to use your aircrafts in SP until the FC2 map is released.

I think FC1 is still on sale pretty cheap.  So, personally, I'd start with that. 

 

But as the others have said,  get whatever has the planes you want, or just get both.   However, FC2 is still not available via steam, so I'd suggest whatever you get, buy from the developer and not steam.

If only one of them, I'd start at the beginning.

A good few of the fundamental planes are in it, and you get the Arras map now.

But if you fancy a splurge, yes, get them both.

Does Career Mode still work in RoF?

I loaded the current version and bought back a few planes, even though back when, I had them all.

But I can't seem to get Careers to work, I can generate a pilot but when I go to load a mission it comes up with an error message.
