Chilli_40 Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Have any other Q2 users had their graphics go for crap in the last couple weeks! Mine was working perfect about a week ago, everything was clear, I could spot easily, gauges were crystal clear. About a week ago I logged onto the server, and everything was shimmering, and fuzzy bad enough spotting is almost impossible, gauges are even fuzzy. Just curious if it's just my rig or has anyone else experienced this. AMD 5800x, 32GB, RTX 3080ti.
E69_nikit Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Check that the "Bloom" effect has not been activated. Inside the "Data" folder, file "Startup.cfg". Maybe that is the problem. 1
d2k77 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Yeah its not caused by the bloom effect as I have it off. Been doing some testing all afternoon and I have a theory there's something in the latest oculus update that is auto adjusting the bitrate to keep it at a certain frame rate. It seems to happen more when using the link cable, I started using airlink and saw less shimmering and banding but it would appear every now and then especially when i was taking off or low to the ground. It's very annoying though, its like flying in a near perfect vision dome but everything outside it is jaggie and shimmery mess
Drum Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Have you tried using the Balanced preset? For me, if I use High or Ultra it makes distant scenery more blurry & shimmery.
Chilli_40 Posted May 1, 2022 Author Posted May 1, 2022 I'll try the balanced setting today, thanks Drum! 1
d2k77 Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 So again been testing all day and here's what I have come up with so far. It has improved the visuals and whilst the banding and shimmering is still present it is much much less. Need to tinker some more as the its not as smooth as I would like in the single player missions. I am very much open to suggestions though. Steam Setting - Render Resolution, 150% Custom Resolution Multiplier, AS - Off SteamVR Home off Oculus Render Res (4224 x 2128) In game settings - Low Preset [KEY = graphics] 3dhud = 0 adapter = 0 bloom_enable = 0 canopy_ref = 0 desktop_center = 1 detail_rt_res = 1024 draw_distance = 1.00000 far_blocks = 0 fps_counter = 0 fps_limit = 0 full_height = 768 full_width = 1280 fullscreen = 0 gamma = 1.00000 grass_distance = 0.00000 hdr_enable = 0 land_anisotropy = 2 land_detail = 0 land_tex_lods = 3 max_cache_res = 1 max_clouds_quality = 2 mgpu_compatible = 0 mirrors = 1 msaa = 0 multisampling = 2 or_ca = 0.00000 or_dummy = 0 or_enable = 1 or_height = 2876 or_hud_rad = 1.50000 or_hud_size = 0.75000 or_ipd = 0.06310 or_render_eye = 0 or_sipdc = 0.00000 or_width = 2832 post_sharpen = 0 preset = 0 prop_blur_max_rpm_for_vr = 155 rescale_target = 1.00000 shadows_quality = 2 ssao_enable = 0 stereo_dof = 5.00000 vsync = 0 win_height = 1080 win_width = 1920 [END] 1
Chilli_40 Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 Balanced setting helped a little for me also. I agree, I think it must be something with an Oculus update as I hadn't changed anything before mine went for *rap! I'm going to try your settings today d2k77 and see what that looks like. I'm surprised we are the only 2 having this problem. 1
dgiatr Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 (edited) Yes, count me in too, always Q2 is quite shimmering for me not only the last week.I always use 2xMSAA with some fps penalty loss. Do you make any use of Oculus Debug Tool? You can make tests with some intresting settings in there like :sharpness..... You can also make settings with FSR sharpness. For me Q2 has more saturated colors but with more shimmering, on the other hand G2 has less satutated colors and more blurry environment but with less shimmering and better fps. I could say that Q2 has, like to say , oversharpen picture with some more shimmering. Edited May 2, 2022 by dgiatr
