Keybinding Question

I had to reinstall Windows (10) as it quit working.  While the reinstall was being done the latest hotfixes and the latest update was released.

I re-downloaded the game and discovered that some keybinds ask you to press Ctrl+Alt+Shift before pressing a key.  The key the bind shows Ctrl+Alt+Shift and the key you pressed followed by a a question mark.  Just pressing the key without using Ctrl+Alt+Shift gives you the key, a slash and when you Accept it reads Keypress/Keypress.

 

I have never seen this before.  Is this new and why does it exist?

 

Further more I cant get my free look external camera to work.  Default is Left Shift + mouse X.  I cannot seem to get "mouse X" as a responce and when I try to reprogram it asks for the Ctrl+Alt+Shift and "move the mouse in the direction of increase".  Not using Ctrl+Alt+Shift Just gives me Left mouse doubled.

When I go to the external camera nothing happens.  I get a default view I can't move.

 

What has changed or what am I doing wrong?

 

I do have 'Allow Spectators' ticked.

Do you get the Ctrl+Alt+Shift Message on some keybinds?  I don't get them on all actions.

???  I just got my computer back after reinstalling Windows 10.  Both Norton and malware Bytes installed.

Re-downloading the game was the first thin I did.

When I try and set up some keys (not all) I get 'press a key' and below that 'Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift'.  When I do that it reads 'Ctrl+Alt+Shift plus the key I pressed follwed by a slash.

You mean some aircraft commands trigger this message and some don't? I tried a couple of random ones on my PC and didn't get it. Which ones do on your PC? Can you show us the screenshot with this message?

I took a look at my copy of IL2...... I didnt find any of the key mapping entries wanting Ctl Sht or Alt.

I did find that if I press Control or Shift or Alt it displays " LCtrl " - for Left Control like shown in the screen shot

 

 

Is this what your seeing or something else?

Can you post a screenshot of what you see please?

This is what I get on SOME keybinds, not all.

If I hadpressed Accept it would have added joy1_pov0_0 on the other side of the slash.

I don’t know anything about the ctrl + alt + shift requirement (have never seen that).  But the “key / ?” Just means BoX is just waiting for you to enter the second key mappings for this action.

 

Some actions/mappings require two key mappings assigned, one for increasing and one for decreasing said action.  It even says that in your screen shot at the top under “To assign keys” :).

I think there's a misunderstanding here. The program does NOT prompt you to press Ctrl+Alt+Shift, it simply states that you would hold Ctrl and/or Alt and/or Shift and press another key if you actually WANT to assign such a key combination (e.g. hold Shift and press L for assigning Shift-L).

Unlike other key binds I get that with items that have the Ctl+Alt+Shft I get the "slash" option only.

I thought that + meant and not or.

My bad.  I misread the instruction.  It does say Ctrl/Alt/Shift.

I'll give that a try.

The second keypress (after the slash) is for the decreasing value  So, for instance, for flaps, you'd first press F to lower them. The menu now shows "F /". Then Shift-F to raise them. The menu now shows "F / LSht + F" and the keys are assigned.
