Blitzen Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Back before the long awaited ( and most gratifying big upgrade ( was it 5.0?) there was serious discussion about enabling one or all of the seaplanes in CloD : the He-59 ( which had quite a bit of development way back in Oleg's days,) He- 115,the Supermarine Walrus,et al.Are any of these still a possibility in the far off ,dim future. When & if VR is incorporated into CloD DWTthese would make great additions to the game .Flying the Walrus would be a hoot. ( of course there are probably others in the pipeline as well ,and I'd like to think of the Fairey Swordfish as one of them too...
Mysticpuma Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 I am no doubt going to be wrong but as far as I am aware, development of those aircraft to flyable standard is not expected to happen. I believe the 115 had the most possible chance of being flyable but the modeller left the team very early on and the model itself was completely unusuable due to a vast polycount way outside of the game limits? The Sunderland would be great to see but Buzzsaw has mentioned before that the cockpit data/detail is not there to reference from (similar to the much requested Do-17), so unlikely it will happen. It's difficult to see where they go really (regarding water based missions). Should these be of interest to the team there is of course a PBY Catalina which could be created? Plenty of data and flyable aircraft reference. Perfect if the MTO is being considered and served pretty much throughout the war? The issues though are time of investment against returns in use by the player base? I have read multiple times about carrier ops and these have been discussed for the Martlet in v6.0 although as always nothing official or confirmed. As always though we'll just have to wait and see but in terms of aircraft and water ops, I would think a Catalina is the easiest way forward with reference material readily available. Just depends if TFS get the chance to create it ahead of BoX.... time will tell ?
Enceladus828 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 (edited) This is what has been said about adding seaplanes to the game: Would you like to have flyable seaplanes? (theairtacticalassaultgroup.com) But TFS did say that if they do Malta then the Swordfish will be included Edited April 18, 2022 by Enceladus
Knightmare Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 The Swordfish in VR would be incredible. I can only hope this will become a reality at some point.
Dagwoodyt Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Seems like spiraling into deeper and deeper levels of niche. Better to have a native campaign system with a persistent world to make playing "campaigns" more worthwhile. Yes, a tall order ?
