Airfields that can handle the Gotha and HP?

As the title suggests.  Half of the fields in FC can't handle an Albatros let alone a Gotha or HP.  Anybody know which fields can?

I don't know. I don't think they were designed with these bombers in mind.

I'm thinking you're right.  Players will have to air start until the new map arrives

I've been able to take off from the ground in both HPs and Gothas on the FlugPark. I've also managed to land successfully the few times I haven't been shot down. A couple days ago we had 3 Gothas land as a formation after destroying a train station, an industrial complex, and an army camp.

That said, it takes forever to climb up to altitude in these things, so having an air start at 2km is really helpful. Right now the FlugPark has both an airstart at 1km and a ground start. I think the 1km air start isn't quite high enough, since I spend my entire time trying to climb up to 2km. At that altitude I can avoid flak better and have a bit more time to spot interceptors climbing up toward me (more time to direct escorting players towards them and make sure any player gunners are alert). It also makes it easier to look ahead in the bomb sight and line up on the target. I've missed targets because I was too low to see it and line up in time.

Are you working on adding HPs and Gothas to the PWCG? I am currently reading about a Handley Page night bomber pilot who did low level attacks and strafing of airfields and would love to try it at some point.

Zooropa Fly's been revamping his maps and passing them on to me for testing; we're trying to get them online again for everyone.  We've got good airfields and bombers.  The bots are amazing.  No "touch and die" landings.  Not seeing wings come off for no reason.  Tire tracks don't fade out like they do elsewhere now.  Planes burn and leave a smoke trail more like they did in the past.  And more.

Zoo tells me there's no difference in the FM or DM but it seems like his maps harken back to a time (a couple years ago) when things worked better.   I don't know but it sounds to me like he's found answers for the problems folks are presently experiencing elsewhere.  He'd be the guy to ask about all that; I'm just the test pilot.

As far as it being difficult to take off in one of these bombers; that's a given depending on load.  But ZF kicks it up a notch.  Before you begin your takeoff roll, make sure there's not a building or vehicle in close (and hazardous) proximity.  I ripped a wing off first time I tried a t/o in the 0400.   Good fun!

Hope this helps.

Prosit!

In Rise of Flight I made consistent good landings at Douai an airfield near city with same name.

How do I accomplish this feat- The Douai airdrome is BIG and FLAT. I looked all the Youtubes on how to land that 'Widowmaker'..... Requiems and a few others then it struck me..wherever they land it was on some wide open, flat aerodrome. A lot of the small airfields are bumpy, not long enough and on a slant.

I am on the look out for others but Douai airdrome I like with the Gotha.

When I get Volume 2 FC that is where I will base my Gotha or others that are that big.

Flew and landed in SchuckertDIV (Don't have FC2 GOTHA yet) Douai is big and flat enough for a Gotha.
