Just wondering if 1C created a fundraiser for a new game engine would you invest?

Creating a new game engine (not part of one of the modules). With a specific target set (almost like a kickstarter), money only taken if the target is reached.

  1. 1. If 1C asked for (for example) a £20/$20 fee solely for Game Engine development, would you invest?

While I really am impressed with everything 1C have done with the Sim so far (the new weather is just wonderful), it seems the only way we will ever get large bomber formations of 4-engine heavies and 128 player online battles is a new game engine?

My question is simply; If 1C asked for a donation towards solely a new game engine, would you consider investing (with the specific reason the engine can cope with large formations (with Ai coding too), 4 engine bombers and larger amount of player on servers)?

I personally have no idea how far this current engine can go, and it is fair to say the Dev's have worked miracles but for the future of the Sim, is this something the community would go for?

None of the above has been mentioned by the Dev's, it is just simply my thought about seeing large formations of 4-engine bombers streaming through the sky, escorted by fighters and then the Luftwaffe show up. I have great memories of IL2:1946 being very capable of this but from everything I read it just isn't possible with the current game engine?

Early access would be a given, no idea what other rewards would be offered but just wondering if this is something others have considered?

Cheers, Mysticpuma

I would invest in the new engine and buy new content.

What won't happen with me is buying everything all over again.

Have a nice day.

There is no need for donations for a new game engine, purchasing their products is what supports things like that.

If people don't buy stuff they can't invest in newer tech.

So we just need to convince all our friends to buy all the content!

Complete waste of time. The idea has been long discredited by failed Kickstarters; most of them do and it pre-supposes there is some excess of talented, unemployed programmers kicking around Moscow awaiting for job offers.

Couldn't we just raise a bunch of money through Kickstarter so they could buy the CLoD engine? Or is there a downside to that engine I'm unaware of?

The product we have now went a long way. The first product BoS was very controvers. Many features were lacking or not working. It was not the successor of the old IL2 all were hoping for. Still there are features missing that veterans were used to have. Another product like tank crew is just left behind. No, sorry, i dont want another engine with a new product. Let this product develop and get all the features we want to have. If you think that a new product would have all funtions you are wrong. See FC has not the feature the predecessor had.

Waa?

1C already own the CLoD engine. They abandoned it nine years ago after sinking millions into development for a good reason.

It doesn’t work.

TFS have spent nine years applying lipstick and getting nowhere.

From that link:

"Kickstarter campaigns are great if you get funded. What happens when we fail? Can you imagine the negativity that would go down if that happened? The combat-sim community doesn't take disappointment well. When you don't meet the Kickstarter goal the money goes back. Remember when Luthier did his WWII Kickstarter for DCS and almost didn't make it? He only asked for $100K. Not a large sum of money for a sim development team at all. Didn't turn out well for Ilya or DCS as far as I can tell.

Jason"

Which to be fair was for a complete module and multiple aircraft....this would be for a game engine build.

What difference does that make?

I flew it extensively online a few years ago and it was pretty damned good. I'm much looking forward to trying it out in VR next.

Haven't you tried it since TF went to work on it? My last go was as mentioned so it must be even better now. But whatever else, how come it can handle shedloads of bombers while DN trips over its own laces if one dares go anywhere near numerous entities?

Boycotting any new purchases until legit commitment is made to Pacific theater and updating engine. And mission editor ✌️

yes, because they keep dilivering what they set to do, but dont think they will be creating new game engine any time sone, there is no need, no competition.

also for ppl who have need to suport, but dont have new things to buy, you can simply just buy everything again as gift and keep it for your self, so there is already way for extra suport if ppl wont to do so.

...Ask me again maybe after we have our drop tanks, a flyable allied medium bomber, completed DVD for the rest of the planes, C-47 released, air marshall and a pacific theatre announcement.
