Cease fire command "locks" AI turret in one direction

As the title says if you give the "cease fire" command while an enemy is in gun range, the turret will keep on looking in the direction it was before the command was given.
The turret will always return to the direction, lets say 123°, no mater if my tank is turning or the target my gunner was attacking moves(he doesn't keep the aim on the target).
Some times you can give the "Do like me" command and the AI "locks" the turret in the direction the tank is facing, the only reliable way to undo the this is by assigning a new target.
Switching to the gunner seat and back to commander also doesn't reset the "locked" direction.
But as long as no enemy is in range the "cease fire" command, "locks" the gun to the tank i.e. the gun stays at 20°left, but if an enemy is detected the turret gets back to the bug above.
Manual control doesn't seem to be effected, except of cures you sometimes have to turn the turret 180° and after switching, the turret will automatically turn all the way back
This happens in the official campaigns, quick mission and user made missions (i dont know about MP).

I would like to know if this is just me or can anyone confirm my experience.

it's a long-standing problem, known by players and developers, explanations given by some players, but no correction for the moment... sorry...
