moustache Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Hello everyone, I have a small problem: sometimes the AI refuses to follow my orders (like not auto-firing or auto-aiming targets...)...even if the latest patch "seems" (j I said "seems") to have reduced the frequency, it still happens ... and it's painful: just today, day off, I say to myself "come on, I'm having a little game, quiet at home, total immersion, no one to disturb me, I even deactivate the HUD for even more immersion... it starts well, atmosphere and everything, no worries, I position myself in ambush in Pz IV, waiting half a dozen t34s on their flank, so that he gets to good distance, they can't see, the "long distance" attack would mean my death... and then, wham, the AI takes control, shoots the enemies (without my ordering it), I am spotted, they replies and puts me in my misery... after nearly 1 hour of play without problem... some have reported the problem well and even find the beginnings of answers, but the bug is still there... suddenly my question: does anyone know enough about file editing and is it possible to turn off crew AI? 1
LachenKrieg Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 (edited) @moustache, its been awhile since I played, but one way to make sure the Ai gunner doesn't start shooting before you want is by occupying the gunners position yourself. But if you want to stay in the Commander's position for example, I thought there was a command for "Hold Fire". IIRC, those commands were supposed to work for both the tank your in as well as the other tanks in your platoon, but you would have to check it out next time your in game to be sure. DD_Friar Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 If you are running the mission through a server, there is a setting "Lock AI Fire" (or something similar) - might that help? Can not say exactly what it does. 1 1
Yogiflight Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 To me it seems the issue is that the AI behaves the same way as the gunners in aircrafts. In aircrafts they also shoot on their own. What you can try is, apart from LachenKrieg's suggestion, to 'Hold Fire', the command to open fire at short range. I didn't try it myself yet, but as it seems the controls of aircrafts and tanks are connected, it might work. Another thing I find absolutely annoying is that the gunner turns the turret and opens fire at targets he could never have seen. So it seems he has a crystal ball next to him. 1 1

I've never seen this order...

There is an order to only shoot at close range - it's actually an order to the gunners in bombers - maybe this order will also work for tank crews? 1

This is exactly what I meant. It seems the commands for aircrafts and tanks are not divided, so commands you assign for aircrafts also work for tanks and vice versa. I noticed that two times, when I had assigned a command for aircrafts to the same key, I had assigned the command for start/stop engine for tanks to. It is pretty annoying, when you are flying and press a key for something and suddenly your aircraft engines stop running. So the gunner command to fire at close range might work. 1
moustache Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 well, I tried, it doesn't seem like anything, both in one way and the other: The AI does not attack, or if it has disobeyed, it continues to attack the target...
