d3d error suddenly spoiling the fun!

I've been happily playing Stalinhgrad for a couple of years and then suddenly yesterday it started showing this message

d3d renderer 11 end frame

dxgi error device removed ox 887a005

once when I clicked on this I  got a further message saying:-

failed to open texture  graphics/textures/particles/ n-smokedark.ddss

I've changed or added nothing since the last time it ran succesfully without this problem. Could anybody help me please. I'm not super tech wise so if you could spell anything out simply that would be much appreciated!!!

thanks!!!!

I was a bit of a liar there as I remembered just now that I changed( for the very first time) the sky cloud settings away from clear. Having changed it back to 'clear' all seems well. Fingers crossed.

Interesting, since n-smokedark.ddss is an improperly formed filename.

Nothing else in the game is named like it (n dash versus the game's use of only n underscore).

Do you have a mod installed? If so you may just need to correct the script with the ddss typo in it by editing it back to n_smokeddark.dds (or n-smokedark.dds if the mod provided a custom particle effect file with that name).

I fixed this issue by doing a clean reinstall of my Nvidia graphics drivers
