[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 I hate complaining, again I'm sorry, I really love this game.. I probably have a few posts about this but I'm not having any luck. Since the Cloud hotfixes I've been battling performance and Visual quality issues. I've managed to live with performance and visual degradation but now its just getting worse it seems? Cloud update was a miracle.... i was able to run almost everything at max graphic setting for the first time. shadows, clouds(especially), Msaax4, high preset.. steamVR set to 120% ss..etc. post hotfixes just to maintain acceptable frametimes for Motion Reprojection....everything is down to no shadows, SVR back to 100%, the terrain past 3-4 miles is shimmering with blurred forests textures, hills have geometry popping when getting closer to it, distant rivers are blobs.... unless i zoom in then it sort of clears up. even on a field before taking off, the ground is an eyesore the "rings of detail" are so prominent it hurts.. tried different horizon draw distances, landscape filtering, etc. im getting very frustrated.. and what sucks is im probably alone in this experience as i cant find anyone else bringing up these issues. all my drivers up to date. no mods. just tears. before the hotfixes i had FSR file so i though that was the issue.. did full reinstall, but it didn't help at all. still flying as much as i can stand to not look at the terrain... but then again i gotta navigate so i get depressed again. is there some optimization that killed distant landscapes in VR? Aside from this, the Banding issue being fixed is amazing! especially when flying early morning flights on cloudy rainy days.... If we could have a "File Verify" button on the launcher in case of corrupted file installs, this would be nice.. I've gone through the RE & RE process a few times and its just not worth it any more... 2
Riderocket Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 (edited) Sometimes the "sharp" filters can cause aliasing. Try set distant landscape to off or/and filter off i found the blurred landscape option made it pretty bad too Edited April 9, 2022 by Riderocket 1
Drum Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 I just downloaded SteamVR's beta 1.22.5 and what a nice surprise. It got rid of most of the distortion I was still seeing to the point the whole picture looks so much sharper now, big improvement short range and far. The burry area outside of the G2's sweet spot looks even larger and less blurry because of that; I highly recommend you check this out if like me you haven't yet. 1
Ribbon Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 I 100% agree! First cloud update was great and performance was great, it all seemed stable and nice, than after clouds hotfix it all went down (fps performance and shimmer), now new skybox introduced another hit on fps performance. In short clouds hotfix and new skybox almost halfed VR performance for me, very high price for not so great visual gain...if i can call it a gain since sun glare is still a bit overdone! DCS channel map become more playable in VR than il2! I hope in next update devs will bring back il2's VR performance back on track! 2
