kraut1 Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 (edited) Hi All, I have created a modified template of the 1941 Circus Campaign: -from June - August 41 -Planes: -more advanced planes selected: BF109-E7/F2/F4, more Spitfire MKV, more Hurricane MKIIc -some Bombers added (Blenheim MKIV) Modified Speeds: -for some units speed was to fast to follow your Leader during climb to cruise altitude. -for some units speed was to slow in template (in template 300km/h-> in mission ca.225) changed resulting cruising speed in mission ca. 340 - 410 km/h Some additional Units moved closer to Calais / Dover Area for possibility for short missions. -Flew 1 test mission with VR Beta, it worked. When I played it I had to use simple engine management so I could catch up when the AI was too fast. Now I might try again with complex settings. I wonder if we'll eventually get a mission generator with medals and whatnot. Thanks! 1

In low level missions it's easy to follow your squadron. In medium altitude missions you will be maybe some distance away for some time but you can catch them without overheating with realistic settings. If in your campaign missions appear very often very high altitudes you could even reduce the speeds in the template more. You can change the speeds in the template as required by you, formular: speed (in template) * 0.75 = cruise speed in mission. Best regards

Hi, I have tested it: To change the cruise speed during a campaign: If the dynmiss is already running: -press Stop in the GUI and close the dynmis.exe. -Edit the speed in the template and save. -Start the dynmis.exe and after that in the GUI press the Start button. (in this moment a new mission is generated with the new speeds). -It is not required to reset the campaign or the mission. -Check in the template the correct squadron name, because there are many similar named squadrons. -I have tested this 3 times and it worked. Thanks to kraut1 for helping me understand how to do it with his work. I attach all the modified templates; the content of the Readme follows: Modified Templates for TheOden's DynMisDover.exe - by greybeard - 20 April 2022 CREDITS - TheOden for all "builtin" templates. - kraut1 for "DynMisTemplateBoB4106-01v1" and "DynMisTemplateBoF40-red-sp-v01". FEATURES Provides historical cruising speeds for all aircraft involved. A few German fighter squadrons got hakenkreuz on their planes fin. Italian Fiat G.50's got the typical white band of the Mediterranean theatre on their rear fuselage. INSTALLATION Unzip the content of "ModifiedTemplatesForTheOdenDynMisExe.zip" into your game main folder (should be "Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover"). If you've ongoing campaigns you need to click on "Reset Campaign" onto TheOden's DynMisDover.exe GUI. UPDATE 27 April 2022 Replaced all Bf 109F-2 Trop with F-4 Trop in "Operation Crusader" since there were no F-2 in Africa (apart ten F-2/B with Jabo/JG3 in April 1942). Added some skin and a few ground objects. UPDATE 13 May 2022 Added some more German skins with hakenkreuz and a few more ground objects. Actually, just one missing, that about El Alamein Pursuit. But that campaign is so short that I usually skip it! I am still trying to refine the details: for example, eliminating the useless ventral tank of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 (the game does not use it to actually increase the range) and the underwing guns of the F version (for which you cannot choose the ammunition and convergence, and which constitute an excessive increase in weight and aerodynamic resistance) as a fixed set-up, adding missing variants like Bf 109F-4/Z, and above all I would like to give the swastika to as many German planes as possible, whose livery seems to me mutilated without.

I suppose we don't have the possibility to change the weapon sets in the templates. Concerning the drop tanks, that are in many cases not required, I edit sometimes the mission files and replace the Weapons... line. The same I do with the with the in respect of aerodynamics bad bomb rack with the 4xSC50 bombs that I always replace by the SC250. 1

This is what I also do to set the ammunition each time to the "historical" configuration I have created for some aircraft. Editing the mission file always remains the most effective and versatile means of obtaining the desired configuration, even as regards flight formation, for example. greybeard_52 Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 I want to add some hints about using TheOden's mission generator which might improve the game experience for some. Forgive me if I am "reinventing the wheel" if you think so. I find that the AI is a bit too excited in this game and performs maneuvers that seem unreal to me and that sometimes lead to crashing into the ground or into other planes. I was personally impressed by the behavior of the AI in the career mode of "Air Warfare", which seemed more "human" and similar to what is usually observed in the films of the camera gun, so I propose to copy the average skill values by editing the mission , immediately after generating it with TheOden executable. I also suggest how to change some parameters in the mission (this time from within the game, in FMB) to customize them. 1 1 3

You can usually prevent this bug from occuring by satrting a quick mission after launching the game. I hope this workaround also works for the mission generator.

This is usually a function of not deleting the cache file after every version update, or after installation, re-installation. (make sure you save configs files)

Regarding ai skill the code has 4 selections hardcoded (tried to get at the same issue noted by greybeard_52) string fSingle = "1 0.26 0.26 0.35 0.89 0.99 0.47 0.47"; string fCrew = "1 0.26 0.52 0.30 0.89 0.99 0.57 0.57"; string sCrew = "1 0.26 0.52 0.40 0.89 0.99 0.57 0.89"; string bCrew = "1 0.26 0.75 0.25 0.89 0.99 0.57 0.89"; These are set to singleseat fighters, "crew" fighters, stuka and bombers. Maybe it would be better to open these as a setting but I've not seen any huge difference between the sets or I can just alter the values as suggested above. There is a new update pending the new sky-stuff but maybe it's time to update the published exe before that. 1 1
