Virpil Axis to Button Conversion

Good Morning,

I've asked this before but I cannot find the topic. I have the Virpil CM3 Throttle. I want to change the flaps axis to be my landing gear handle. So at the top of the stroke I want it to raise the gear and at the bottom of the stroke I want to lower the gear.

I've done it before, with your help, but I cannot remember how to do it. So the top 20% of the throw should trigger a key stroke of my choosing and the bottom 20% should trigger another to raise and lower the gear.

I just got a new rig and am doing a complete overhaul on my controls and game inputs. I didn't save my old profile. Once we have it sorted I will save my profiles and follow this topic to make sure I don't lose it again.

Your expertise is appreciated in advance.

BTW, I really love having the flap handle as my landing gear handle. The visual and tactile positioning is awesome.

It may be possible to do this within the Virpil software. If not, you can certainly do this with a virtual button in joystick gremlin. Add a remap action for the axis, map it to a button, and select a range from the 'Virtual Button' tab.

(Although personally, I think the flap handle is far too useful as a radiator control).

The later versions of CM3 software use a different approach for axis to button.

Havoc does great YT vids for Virpil stuff but some are a bit dated and the software has changed since then

The newer approach is described in this YT video by Jons gaming and Tech  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW7pQwBg58M&t=1065s ..... go to 17 min 45 seconds

As I stated in another thread: I'd try Joy2Key.

Not sure about the "upper/lower 20% of travel"-thing, but I do use it to convert the rudder-paddle-thingie-axis on my TM TWCS into two keypresses (to activate left/right toe brakes, since IL-2 doesn't seem to be able to map half an axis).

This is why VKB is so much better than virpil because they have highly produced videos on every question you would want to ask. I say this as a owner of both products.

I'm sure there are pro's and con's to both but I wouldn't give up my Virpil gear for nuthin.

I can get the virtual buttons to fire in the 0-20 and 81-100 but they don't show up in the physical buttons. So, I'm still struggling but a little closer.

You are not forgetting to use "Save" and "Save to Device" between each steep?
