Hi,

Wanting to use aim assist to practice. But cannot get it to toggle.

I have it on in my difficulty settings, I've tried toggling it with the keybinding and my HUD is on as well as markers.

Same problem here. Did you find a solution?  I am still waiting on Tech Support for their advice.

Aim assist only works when Bombing assist is on too

Thanks Pepper 9881. Unfortunately not in my case - Bombing Assist and Padlock both checked too. Never seen this problem before in years of updates. Bit of a puzzle.

Just reported it; both aim, bomb and rocket assist still do not work on my system ...

This may or may not be the issue but, aim assist is a little stealthy in that it only comes alive when you have an enemy plane in range and in your sights.  You'll see a pipper indicating how much lead you need and another one showing the hold/offset on your sight.  Align those two points and pull the trigger.  If you're not lined up on an enemy plane or the target is out of range, aim assist pippers  disappear.

Both aim and bombing assist can be enabled/disabled with RCtrl-I (assuming they are checked in the options menu).   Make sure they haven't been toggled off.

You probably know all this, but just adding in case a newcomer is looking.

I've just started getting this problem as well. I've 'repaired' the files via Steam, turned off all mods (I had the North Africa mod installed) but no dice. I've been playing long enough that I don't really need it but I use it to get my eye in for DCS campaigns. It's been a real help in enabling my instinctual aiming. Suddenly, it's gone.
