Gambit21 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 In all the years I've been flying online, (took a break over the last few years, but lots of time in the old IL2) I've never shot at a friendly. Just did it for the first time not 5 minutes ago, not only shot at, but hit. Damn - I know it's just a game, but not a good feeling. No excuse for it. I crashed into the ground as penance, for I know better. That's all - carry on.
Feathered_IV Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I've shot two observers with my RoF service Webley. Mind you, both of them deserved it. 1
Pringliano Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Welcome aboard.... I did it even worse one of these days - shoot a friendly and his chute too!!!
sallee Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Flying old Il2 I was always struck by the fact that about two rounds of .303 would send a friendly down to the ground a blazing wreck but you had to fill a bandit with rounds before he even started smoking! Edited July 19, 2014 by sallee
Cybermat47 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 This reminds me of a time in Halo where some guys were being rude to me over the voice chat, so I goaded them into team killing me so I could boot them XD But hey, don't worry Gambit. We all make mistakes, don't feel too bad.
Rjel Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 So many guys lately doing so much hand wringing over a virtual mistake. They must be almost suicidal if they step on a bug.
Bullets Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I get shot a lot from behind by Shoulder Shooters... I don't mind someone giving me cover, but just following me straight from behind clawing to get the kill is just poor..
BlitzPig_EL Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Friendly fire is a fact of life in real combat, no surprise that it happens in virtual combat as well, especially with our limited field of view compared to reality, and the total compromise that are draw distances and LOD visualization.
M4rgaux Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I've done lot of teamkill already... From the poor guy who crossed my line of fire, to pure and simple cruelty of droping a 1800kg bomb on the runway... I really liked each of'em ;p
Gambit21 Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 So many guys lately doing so much hand wringing over a virtual mistake. They must be almost suicidal if they step on a bug. Let's maybe not go off the rails here. I was simply lamenting for a moment that after never having shot a friendly, ever - I finally did. Then I moved on with my day.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Oh well I wouldn't mind people shooting me by mistake only, there's not much to lose if I get shot down. The number of intentional (or better say attemted) teamkills seems to rise since the last weeks though. I was lately attacked by a friendly 109 in my Stuka during the final and he made 3 passes on me while I tried to land my damaged Stuka as safe as possible. Not even worth to mention that on his third pass he right hit into the runway while I taxied off it with what was still left. Still, especially on expert server, some guys seem to not have learned enought about aircraft shapes...got attacked by a friendly bf 109 in my F-4 at 20m range (he even had gunpods) as well as by another 109 in my Stuka within 10 min only there lately... -TBC-AeroAce Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 It can be funny on expert when u have not identified a target so u fly in like an attack and that scares them so u end up dogfighting them until one of u realises. More than often I realised first then level off then I have to worry about this guy attacking me cause I scared him lol
Pringliano Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I am beginning to learn how to identify them all :-) Problem now is Mr Mk X - where the hell does he come from?
