No.10_Ace_Ivo Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 Hi all, Have been trying to set up a new DServer for IL-2. Have been trying Windows Server 2019 for a bit now but it always crashes a few seconds after loading. Looked up the Windows error report and it says the crash has something to do with the "ucrtbase.dll". Anyone knows if Windows Server 2019 is compatible for IL-2 server hosting and knows how to solve this problem? And also, any advices on server hardware? Thanks in advance, Ivo
DD_FT- Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 No idea about Dserver on Windows Server 2019 compatibility. ucrtbase.dll is part of Microsoft Visual C++ libraries. You could check if those are up to date. Server hardware: Make sure you have a speedy CPU. And a nice and fine fast Internet connection. How fast will depend on what mission(s) you will be running (lots of AI stuff means high CPU Load), and how many clients will be connecting. (Why not run it on Windows 10? DServer runs fine on it ... )
DeadMeat0383 Posted April 22, 2022 Posted April 22, 2022 I can confirm that IL-2 Dserver runs fine on server 2019 (I have three servers running on it currently). I too will also mention the need for a fast CPU but will give a bit more detail. - You need a CPU that has a high IPC and high clock speed, the more modern the CPU the better. - RAM is not a huge concern as dserver uses around 1-2gb of ram while running (at least on my systems) but tends to perform better with faster ram, so 8gb of ram in the system will be fine. - Dserver does not do much in the way of spreading the load across cpu cores, so more cores does not help, you want to focus on the first point. 1
