Switch veh turret sight position - does it do anything?

I'm currently working on a really comprehensive layout (using a warthog setup) that lets me fly every aircraft in the game with an absolute minimum of overlapping functions so that switching to a different plane just requires a quick familiarization flight and all the keys for things like radiators, cowling flaps, etc. are right were I would expect them - in both VR and using a monitor.

 

However, for the life of me, I can't figure out what the command for " Switch veh turret sight position" does. I've tried using it on all different gunner positions and after switching to and nestling into differnt guns, etc. - even on various tanks. This key assignment just doesn't seem to do anything.

 

For example, I thought it might allow you to switch between the left and right iron sights on the dorsal gun of the He 111 H-16 once you've nestled into it, but nope that doesn't work either. Is this key assignment simply not used for anything?
