What is best way to set up a SP dogfight mission?

Hello All,

I have used both Command:Attack Area  (AI no matter the setting ,even on Ace ,just fly in circles or hover about, basically as targets.)and Command Attack -AI sill  do  not aggressively attack my flight. When I use Command Cover to have the fighters escort the bombers, this is the most aggressive the AI are toward my flight. They seek me out, not just fly in a circular patter waiting to be shot down. I suppose I can have one flight of AI fighters escort another flight of AI fighters. However, is seems there should be a better, more realistic solution.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Although they do tend to fly in circles a lot, I have seen "Ace" AI leading a single "High" wingman using Drag and Bag techniques when attacked from above and behind quite a bit recently. I have also gotten a lot of head on attacks from FW 190s while flying in allied fighters.

The other thing I notice is that 8 vs 8 usually results in a lot of circle fights and not a lot of planes getting shot down. Attack Area set to high priority seems to be about as good as you get. If you set the AI to attack a certain target, they will ignore other flights and not defend themselves as well. Perhaps having 1 flight of fighters escort another is a better option, I don't know. Maybe you could test it and let us know.

I am going to say what all the vets say here: I think you need to validate that your Command Attack is actually pulsing - use the Subtitle MCU to do this.

I use Command Attack almost exclusively and it get's the job done. Especially when used a Message Link: On takeoff, you don't even need a waypoint! They fly off on hunt a destroy mission.

A common oversight is also not object linking the Attack Area MCU to the aircraft, even if you trigger it. A subtitle won't tell you that
