The picture below is impossible. There is a bug on how the sun is illuminating the scene. This is the Kuban Map.

Normally when you are in the shadow of the mountains and the sun is below, there should be no direct light cast on the map in the mountain shadow. This bug makes that sometimes the valley floor that is in the mountain shadow is completely lit by grazing light and so the fog becomes completely luminous. It makes for weird or impossible pictures like the one below:

I don't think it is a bug, but a flat world feature. Earth has to be transparent in some way to allow for dusk and dawn. In a flat world, there can be no ambient light from the sun below the horizon. Unless of course world was a very small map. Small enough to see the edges at 10'000 m altitude.
