unit327 Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 (edited) I submitted a support request but haven't heard back so I am wondering if any of you can help me or how indeed any of you run DServer. Here is what I have done: Created a new account for the dedicated server and got it approved Did a fresh install of windows 10 (also tried windows server 2019) Opened a browser and logged in to this site using the dedicated server account Went to profile and downloaded the installer ran the installer for il2 ran the launcher and waited for it to update the game ran DServer.exe file->manage sds open the coop complex example sds put in my dedicated server account username and password put a game password in "protection" save and close file->open pick the complex co-op sds DServer then crashes. It gets this far and then simply exits with no error message whatsoever: 05:35:59 ===== Cooperative mode ===== 05:35:59 ===== Dedicated server ===== 05:35:59 Brief info: 05:35:59 Max clients = 4 05:35:59 TCP: 28000, UDP: 28000, Downloader: 28100, U/D Limits = 50000/50000 05:35:59 Login with UserName 'REDACTED' 05:36:06 ... 5DG-Taslehoff Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 I am having the exact same problem. Did you get a reply from support?
Hinterseer Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 No problem here - just loaded it Can you load any other missions from the .sds? Login success Server is being created ... Hinterseer Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 It must be some local error, maybe in the setup? Did you open up the ports in your router? https://www.canyouseeme.org/ Try read here and see if its bring you closer
unit327 Posted April 3, 2022 Author Posted April 3, 2022 That thread is not about DServer and does not help here. This is not a problem ports or anything of that kind, those are setup correctly and I can host and have others connect fine when using the main game instead of DServer. Besides, any misconfiguration there should not cause an instant crash with no error message reported whatsoever. It is literally a fresh install of windows and a fresh install of the game with the exact steps listed in the first post nothing more, nothing less.

Yea i read that, but nothing said about ports or anything about running another .sds? The server and the complex coop .sds runs fine The error is on your side, you have to look for it Best of luck
unit327 Posted April 5, 2022 Author Posted April 5, 2022 Even if the problem is on my side there should be an error message to diagnose it, so the problem ultimately lies with DServer. As it is, every mission and every sds fails on DServer.exe yet on the same machine and same copy of the game I can host fine via Il-2.exe.
DD_FT- Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Maybe if you share the contents of the .sds file here, or share the settings used in another way people might be able to help.
Cynic_Al Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Are you sure the IP address used by dserver is correct for the hosting machine? IL2.exe will default to the active address, but dserver.exe has to use that specified in the.sds file. Normally this would show something like 'mission not found', but it's worth checking.
Cmdr_Gato Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 (edited) I have the same issue. It seems the crash occurs when loading the mission. In my case on a clean windows install as well. When looking at the windows reliability monitor it says it is the input.dll file where the error occurs. The other information on there is only useful to the developers, if at all. I will try to analyze one of the dump files to see if I could get any more information. Update: Had a look at the dump file. Without going in to detail because I don't really want to disclose stuf I potentially shouldn't. It seems to be an issue either in the operating system setup or some edge case not covered in the code. This honestly feels like an issue the game devs should have a look at. Best we can do is come up with a reliable way te reproduce the issue, and provide that to them. (thinking of a VM snapshot or the like) My current hypothesis: There are some config/prerequisite software packages that are not covered in the DServer install but are available on the average gaming PC. Either through installing the full game (be it from the devs, via steam or otherwise), installing other games or just getting the requisite config some other way. Keep In mind, this is my first time trying to seriously debug a game crash. I'm just a software engineer trying to chip in as much useful information as I can. Edited April 9, 2022 by Cmdr_Gato
Derty Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 (edited) I am having this same issue as well. I initially started with a Windows 2008 R2 server and I was getting a Windows error on crash. It was showing input.dll was the issue. Thinking that this might be an issue with an old version of directx due to the old version of windows, I loaded a new box with Server 2019. After full windows updates I still have the same crash at the same spot. Except now I don't get any error at all. It just closes. Update: I have since tried running this on 2 more computers. One is a Win 10 VM and the other is a physical Win 10 box. They all do the same exact thing. Edited April 10, 2022 by Derty
Agent_13_DS Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 I'm having the same exact problem as well. I'm moving from an older pc (that runs dserver perfectly) to a new pc. I've tried everything, even copying the whole directory where dserver resides over to the new pc. no joy. I agree that there seems to be something missing, there is just no clue, that I can find, to what it could be. I sure hope we get some help on this.
-EAGLE-KurtzWings Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 (edited) Same happens to me. I'm trying to upload a mission from EasyMissionGenerator_v59 as test but no success. When checking the status of the ports, port 28000 is opened but for some reason port 28100 isn't (even though I have opened it ... ). I'm trying to get help from my internet provider. -EAGLE-KurtzWings Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 Hi all, just an update. Ports are ok. Reading Windows Event logs, the error comes from input.dll within the bin/game folder. Anyone knows if this is a known issue or is there any work around to fix it? Thanks
=MERCS=Firestorm* Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 Hi all, Oddly enough this just happened to one of our servers that we have just setup. If the issue is the game/input.dll file then we solved this by adding the input folder to the data directory, (as long as the controller has been setup and not standard config from a new install) then it worked. Hope this helps. 1

Hope this helps. Hey Firestorm, Could you go into a little more detail on this work-around? There is already an "input" folder in the game's "data" directory, and I have made changes to the controls within the game, so it should not be default. Am I missing something? Is there another input folder elsewhere? Thanks man! Appreciated.
Agent_13_DS Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 (edited) SOLVED!!! So... I copied the files from the input folder (IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input) of my PC that has a working Dserver, and its fixed. The difference that I observed is that the working input folder has a file called "input.map" that did not exist on my new install. It must be a file left over from a previous version, or something. I've attached my input.map file in case you dont have it, just be warned that it may botch your game controls since they are different than mine, I have no idea. I don't play the game itself on my server PC, so I don't care. Thanks goes to Firestorm for pointing me in the general direction. input.zip Edited April 13, 2022 by Agent_13_DS 1
-EAGLE-KurtzWings Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 Awesome! I’ll give it a go tomorrow and will post here if that did the trick for me. I was already trying installing it in Ubuntu on a VM… Thank you

And thanks for reporting it solved in here!
-EAGLE-KurtzWings Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 (edited) Hi all, this didn't work for me. I guess if you copy the files from a machine where dserver works over another machine where it doesn't, it does the trick. The problem is that dserver doesn't work either in the machine I normally play (same issue, dserver crashes when trying to upload the mission). Agent_13_DS, could you please share that input.zip file again? it looks it's unavailable and I can't download it ... Thank you! Edited April 14, 2022 by -EAGLE-KurtzWings

-EAGLE-KurtzWings Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 (edited) would you share the file you moved in N.10_Ace_Ivo? because it seems that unless you had the file from a dserver working machine, there's no work around ... Edited April 14, 2022 by -EAGLE-KurtzWings
No.10_Ace_Ivo Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Put the contents of my Windows 10 IL-2 input folder into the server's input folder. Hope this helps. input.rar 1
-EAGLE-KurtzWings Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 (edited) I get this message when trying to download that .rar file. I think my account is restricted from downloading files in the site for some reason or, because I never asked for permissions... This attachment is not available. It may have been removed or the person who shared it may not have permission to share it to this location. Could I ask you to upload it to a dropbox or anything similar and share the link, please? or to send it to me in a message please? Thanks a lot in advance Edited April 14, 2022 by -EAGLE-KurtzWings
-EAGLE-KurtzWings Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 just an update. Got that Input folder and replaced it in data folder. The mission now uploads and the server works. 1
=MERCS=Firestorm* Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Glad to help guys. I know how frustrating these things can be at times. 1
Mikestriken Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Can someone repost the inputs file? I have the same issue....
Todt_Von_Oben Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 (edited) I've been learning how to set up a Dserver lately and basically understand the process. I need to know how much computer I need to run a Dserver hosting IL2 - FC for, say, 30 guests? What kind of CPU, GPU, RAM, and how many watts are you guys using; and how does that work out for you? I guess what I'm asking is, How little computer would be "minimum" and what would it take to "kick ass"? ? S! P.S. And can anyone speak to the variables that affect how much computer we need? Number of players? Map complexity? Or... ? Edited May 8, 2022 by Todt_Von_Oben
