there’s  also the red box server thread

I think he meant to point you towards the Combat Box Server thread.

I have a feeling that somewhere I have read that you cannot see the overlay in VR.     In Combat Box they only really use two channels so I just tune one channel on the first radio and the other channel on the second radio before starting the game and have two buttons configured to choose which radio I want to broadcast on.

If you use oculus you can pin it in VR directly from the oculus desktop app, otherwise you'd have to use Desktop+ in SteamVR - both of these methods might have a slight frametime increase penalty. Alternatively you have to settle for the text-to-speech functionality SRS provides.

That's an awesome idea Firdimigdi, thanks, never even thought of that method!

Could you expand on that?  I cannot see anything in the desktop app that relates to pinning desktop screens into VR.

And a video of this done in a game, same methodology applies:

For Steam VR, I believe you could also use OVR Toolkit to show desktop windows in VR.

Ive tried it a couple do times in the past, but haven't tried to do anything with it in a long time, so not up to speed on the details.
