Fouldespiser25 Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 .50 Caliber rounds had magnesium tips that leave a distinctive flash on impact. In this game the only way I can tell I'm getting hits is when I fly through parts or it starts to smoke which seems very random. Do my graphics settings in VR hide the flash maybe? or it isn't modeled at all? Seems like a pretty big thing to simply "miss."
Rjel Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Unless something changed in the update, I think it’s modeled. Granted I’ve only flown a couple of times since the last patch. 1

Knarley-Bob Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 When "stuff" starts coming off your target, you are hitting it?
firdimigdi Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 No idea if the effect is turned off under a certain quality preset level but I do see sparks and flashes, the intensity seems to vary depending on angle and lighting conditions but at minimum if it's in very bright conditions I do see smoke puffs. This is in VR too.
Jaegermeister Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 (edited) It's not hard to miss. This is from a Mustang, so 6 .50s. Edited March 23, 2022 by Jaegermeister 1
Fouldespiser25 Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 Im using the Ultra preset but have most things turned down to normal or low. I do this so I can increase the steamvr res. I guess Im a bit spoiled with the over done effects in DCS, lol. On 3/22/2022 at 10:06 AM, Rjel said: Unless something changed in the update, I think it’s modeled. Mysticpuma Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 This was Cliffs of Dover modded a few years back. Check it out from the 2m 18s mark. I really think those hits on the 109 and then the ground strafing of the locomotive are pretty close to what the 50 Calibre flashes would be great to see in BoX.
Fouldespiser25 Posted April 1, 2022 Author Posted April 1, 2022 (edited) Thanks for the video mate but its blocked in my country, lol. My hits with the .50 seem to flash inside the plane instead of the surface giving the appearance of an XRay. The same effect happens with the clouds or smoke and trains tanks and trucks. Flashing from the inside and seeing the result. Like a black holes event horizon. I use VR so don't have a good way to record it. Edited April 1, 2022 by Fouldespiser25
