Some say bids are expected around $ 12 million USD. But for a total of 200'000 hours of labor putting it together, that's more than fair. I mean, roughly calculated that is roughly the manhours required to build a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from scratch, assuming 12 hours work on 83 days by 5 people on shift.

 

You could buy 8 F-4 Phantom II for that, but alas, there's only one. The Canuck Starfighter CF-104D is a bargain, at only $ 850k. Probably due to an excessively low WAF*. Despite it being sold along with a ton of spares and two spare engines. All of whick you probably need very much very soon when actually flying it.

 

It is a good time now for buying warbirds. I mean, showing up with a Dragon Rapide at your local airfield will blow all those glass cockpit and plastic planes right out of the pond.

Also remember, this is the prototype, probably the rarest of all Twin Mustangs.

 

Hope it goes to someone that will show it to the public, it would be such a pity to have it shoved in a hangar and not seen again.

Women are overrated. None can moan as loud as the that J79 or have anywhere near it's thrust.

Plus that J79 is objectively hotter.

This is one of 2 aircraft that makes me want a Korean War addition to the sim.  The other is the Sea Fury.

the F-104 probably costs about $7,000 an hour in fuel alone to fly... thats why those warbird jets are always so cheap
