With Samson's permission I have translated his excellent Kursant (Cadet) single player scripted campaign to English for us English speaking folk.

Make sure to read the readme file.

This is a campaign he made in 2019 and is 53 missions long following a Russian pilot who flies the I-16, P39, P40 and Mig3. There is also a skins package of which I don't know the maker. I will update the package if anyone can let me know who it is.

Updated 12/04/2023

resaved for v5.108

I'm up to mission 15 so far in this campaign and it's good fun!

Thanks Bill, It's fun just going back to basics, also flying the I-16 which I have always enjoyed, but I do not envy those Russian pilots who had to fly in all weathers in a very cold open cockpit ! , It's also fun trying to decipher the mission notes which I think is a mix of English and Russian grammar. I think that all the newcomers to this excellent

combat flight sim should fly this set of missions, I have always said that if you can fly and fight in the I-16 successfully you should be able to tackle most campaigns/missions

that are on offer.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply! I was starting to think there was no interest in these older campaigns.

The translation is funny sometimes. All I did was use a translate website (I'm low skilled labor) Ha! I also tweaked the wording in some of them because it was confusing, like for some reason "airplane" translated to "car"!

But like you said it's pretty understandable and certainly enough to get through the missions which by the way get harder as it goes along.

Samson made an excellent scripted campaign so the real credit here goes to him. I'm a mediocre pilot so this one is perfect for me.

Mission 28 " The Strip of Fire " is there any particular reason why I cant start the I-16 engine, I have even tried selecting auto pilot but nothing is happening

There is a lot of action going on at the airstrip but my plane just sits there ?

Cheers

I'll take a look.

Taffy2jeffmorgan,

The new version is different than the old so I would suggest finishing the old campaign otherwise you will lose your place and have to start over.

OK, I altered mission 28 to have player aircraft running at the start of mission. Just unzip this into your Kursant campaign and overwrite.

Hi Bill,

Your link to this campaign seems to be a dead end.  Any chance of putting it back up on MediaFire?

Thanks! ?

I can work on that. It needs to be run through the mission editor resave function first. Give me a few days.

It's a lot of missions and it's pretty old so I hope nothing funky happens.

Thanks, Bill ?

I'm able to use the mission editor resave function, but for others I'm sure it would be helpful, so will wait for your new link!

Cheers!

Excuse me, how can I complete the first mission?  Not just taking off and landing? Thanks in advance.

I haven't played it in a while but if I remember right, follow the instructions and Don't forget to taxi around the whole airfield back to your starting spot.

Taxing following the car,and around airfield, back to the first place ,engine stopped, mission failed.   Mmmm?

Permission to upload this was declined awhile ago. I think it is still available on the Russian forum but it will be in Russian language of course.

Would it be possible for someone to pass mission 6 without the error?

Anyone have a link for the English version of this campaign or is this now lost media? I had it on my old computer but, sadly, it went belly up a year and a half ago, so I lost this wonderful campaign. If any of you have it still, and are willing to share, I'd be in your debt

The only English version I know is the one I translated a while back. Samson declined to let me give it out. I just used some random internet translation app and Russian does not translate too well to English so the descriptions are somewhat confusing which is probably why he doesn't want it out there. Can't blame him on that.
