Jump out of the cockpit....?

Recommended Posts

When I land, either normal or emergency landing, I would like to be able to jump out of the cockpit. Will that be possible, or Is it already, without ejecting?

It would be nice if it were possible.  It would really give a sense of scale and added immersion if one could enter and leave the aircraft in the first person.  Both atthe beginning of a flight, and in a walkaround at the end.

While you at it add more importar options such as refueling and rearming.

No.

How many times does this have to be shot down? Even if you think it's a good idea (which it's not) it's obviously not an "important option" given the nature of this sim.

Exactly. It is just a pointless addition, it doesn't add to realism. One of the biggest proponents of it says that they've never had better immersion when sitting at an airfield coming under attack and being refueled and rearmed in CloD.... but that wouldn't happen. That is anti-immersion, the pilot and ground crew would be scrambling for bunker cover not sitting out in the open with the airfield under attack.

I think the OP means he wants the same thing that you could do in 1946, where you pressed the bail-out button and the pilot jumped out of the plane and took cover by jumping to the ground. It was a pretty handy option when you were being vulched or you crash-landed in career mode, seeing as the pilot would survive.

Exactly, although I never played IL2 CLOD, but that's exactly what I mean, because many times I have been killed while the enemy straffed my emergency landed Yak-1 :-/

I thought that's what you meant too. I just wanted to up the ante with my own agenda as well. ;)

Yep, and the walkaround idea is just great too. If I were a Combat Flightsim designer I would even add something like an operations room where you could look at the maps and spot where enemy and friendly  forces are and how they're doing, If in a Campaign, you should also be able to see detailled info about the mission you're going to fly, and in the limit even interact with your flight members. Then, we could all walk to our airplanes, get in...

I'm not joking! This is actually how I dream of the "perfect" combat flight simulator :-)

But, for the time being... simply being able to jump out of the cockpit and look for a shelter, or being able to perform a preflight and final walkaround would be great.

I love the idea of being able to get in and out of the aircraft. How is a disembodied GoPro on a pivot immersvie? Sometimes I think many of you guys just want to play 1946 from here to eternity. Get hip.

More immersive than having arms and legs I can't move out of the way to look at gauges.

I get the logistics while in the cockpit. I'm hoping when tracking software becomes the norm things like the pilots body parts would become transparent when the POV looks towards the gauges, similar to the POV in SpinTires when the view comes in contact with surrounding trees. The new UFC game also does the same thing to the octagon cage. It becomes invisible when it obscures the players main focus(the fighters). I think that would be an acceptable compromise, but I know it's just a dream for know. I see the pilot animations for Star Citizen and really want to see that kind of thing in Flight Sims. In real life we have to 'get in' and 'get out' of any vehicle. IMO a simulator should strive to simulate as many facets of reality as it can...or that money allows!

I LOVE that old Il-2 animation how he run and jumps to the ground, I want the old one back with the same silly run, jump and graphics XD

The fact that one cant hit the re fly butten until your 15sec is up doesn't help you stay alive while the airfield is under attack either.

So, yes please to the OP`d wish.

In the first place you wouldn't even land on an airfield under the attack and in my opinion flying multiple missions with same plane beats the way just spawn new plane.

In another sim I have had multiple occasions where I have rearmed myself and airrefueled plane and done several missions to target area during several hours of multiplayer flight just using one plane. Just think it would be cool considering if you had feature to give server limited amount of ammunition and planes per side. (Bos have plane thing I believe)
