Small North African maps exclusive to Quick Mission Builder

Hi. Yet again, I have another inquiry. Sorry I’m opening up so many threads.

 

I know Great Battles will probably never go to North Africa. However there are some fans that would love the developers to go there. I would because several ancestors of mine fought there. But again if IL 2 went to North Africa, that would damage sales to Desert Wings - Tobruk, leaving only people who prefer the Clod series to Great Battles to buy it. 
 

So I have a suggestion for the developers to make at least one North African map, which would be significantly smaller than the one in Battle of Moscow, and exclusive to Quick Mission Builder, AQMB and multiplayer. Therefore, everyone wins. Those fans are satisfied, others are intrigued, this wouldn’t really affect Desert Wings sales, and it would give aircraft with skins and desert modifications a purpose for being in the game. Plus it would also help promote the Hurricane Mk II since in the website’s description of it said that it fought in North Africa. 

“The Hurricane Mk.II saw action over the sands of North Africa, the ports of Malta, the jungles of the Far East and protected convoys in the Atlantic.”

 

Places like El Alamein, Tunisia, maybe not Tobruk (still could impact sales) and Malta would’ve suitable.

What sales to desert wings?  Their forums usually get a player posting every month or so.

Our players tend to be more active on the ATAG forum (especially the VR testing section atm), due to it being established as the main site of CloD and TF discussion before the agreement in principle.

While I don't see it likely at all, I have long been a proponent of the IL-2 team changing from one ENORMOUS and partially empty map every 2 years to making much, much smaller maps with higher density. I don't need a map containing all of Finland, all I need is something the size of your typical server mission, which is usually like 15% of the current maps. I don't really see the benefit of making the maps as large as possible since this obviously comes at a cost.

Jason has left open the possibility of a future model that would include a mid-war map that would include North Africa. I suspect that Team Fusion have been left with selected early war campaigns. Just a hunch.

Actually, Team Fusion will be likely going until 1945 in Europe... assuming that their products sell well. The main dishes of their installments won't be D-Day and the Battle of the Rhineland, but those will be side dishes while the main dishes for a 1944 installment and 1945 installment would be perhaps the Gustav Line and Gothic Line in Italy.

 

If the devs do a TC installment dedicated to El Alamein then that won't overlap with the IL-2 Dover series if they contain an El Alamein map as the former would be for the Tank battle while the latter would be for the aerial battles.

Not really much info about the details of their future installments but this info will be released soon as part of their TF 6.0 Pre-release announcement.

 

While I'd say that there isn't much information on whether TF will do a 1944 and 1945 scenario (because they don't know if they'll get to that point and have to focus on the very near future first), I wouldn't exclude that as a possibility. As I previously said, if a 1944 and 1945 scenario is done then the main piece will be something that won't overlap an area already covered in IL-2 GBs and having 1944 Channel Map Ops. included won't overlap BoN because the main focus wouldn't be on D-Day. Also, BoN takes place in 1944 so it doesn't overlap with CloD Blitz which takes place in 1940.
