john3344_kenner Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 In quick missions, when I select an American plane, I get what seems like non-stop "rough man rough man" messages on the comms. Can someone tell me how to turn this off? I've looked in settings, and nothing I've found in there seems to work. This is not immersive, it's extremely annoying. 1
Panzerlang Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 I mapped a rotary knob to the radio volume. I also mapped a button to change channels but that doesn't work. I was hoping to hear Tokyo Rose or something. 2
-332FG-Gordon200 Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 The radio chatter can be eliminated by deleting or changing the names of the files found - D:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\Audio\radio. 1
[CPT]Crunch Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Piggyback the radio volume down button on any button you are likely to use heavy and early, problem solved, no buttons wasted.
BlitzPig_EL Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 I just wish the German radio voices would stop screaming. The US voices are generally calm and matter of fact, but the Germans? They scream about everything. Must have been horrible growing up in a German household... 3 1
KevPBur Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Overly loud, brash Americans demanding attention. As a Brit this seems about right to me ? 2

Having grown up in a German household myself I can assure you that it isn't that bad... At least when nobody is screaming for once ? On a more serious note, I really wish they would find the time and resources to re-do the German voice recordings someday. I really like the British and American voices for being calm and clear, yet the constant shouting on the German side tends to get rather annoying quite fast. Minor complaint though for such a high quality product, afterall. Edited March 21, 2022 by Fritz_X 5

FlyinCoffin Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 I encounter this problem as a bf109 fighter pilot selecting the mission "attack on train". When a wingman hits the train. It wont stop with the message "target destroyed".
Panzerlang Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 German accented English would be cool for LW radio. Any volunteers? ? 1

VA_Kamicosmos Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Besides the 'screaming' is it just me or are all the German voices the same guy? Gets very confusing when there a multiple flights and you just hear a constant stream of what sounds like the same guy giving reports from all over the place. But yes: Map something to radio volume. I turn mine down to about 85%, that way it's still some background chatter, but not so LOUD and CONSTANT. I did get a kick out of one of the American Air controllers. He's almost as angry sounding as the Germans. "CLEAR THE RUNWAY!" Very gruff...a please would be nice. I think the UK voices are the best. There was an odd exchange that should have been 'heated' (couple flights trying to land at the same time) but ATC and the pilot were just polite and calm the whole time. Had me cracking up.
