Ju88C6 Human Tail Gunner Issue

This afternoon while flying online with my squad, one of the guys was my rear gunner in the C6.  He wanted to test the gun so he fired a short burst with the gun elevated and pointed away from the tail.  Some how on doing this he was wounded, and the area between both engines was heavily damaged, the armored glass in the rear turret showed a bullet hit as well. I could also hear the bullet impacts on the airframe.

 

I've not had this issue with an AI gunner in that position, though the rear gunners are quite useless in that they appear to be aiming anywhere but at the approaching enemy aircraft.
