Finally. 

If it might help others. Getting to this point was a journey. The amount of blathering shite out there on the net, oh my god. Anyway...

 

Independent volume still for the two amps/pairs of shakers and for the same volume the vibes have increased significantly (why/how is a mystery).
Lower volume = less heat in the shakers (I think).

The vibes and quality thereof with SimShaker (differentiation between the various plane functions), superb!

I'm using the Creative Console Equalizer and things to filter out high frequencies, had to mess around in there to work out what affects what etc.
