Spidey002 Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 I've been playing through PWCG as a Mustang pilot, and I haven't had any bomber escort missions. I tried to see if I could create one with the "mission with role" button, but even then, I don't see any options. I thought this strange since I know the P-51 was famous for escorting bombers. 1
jeanba Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 In general, I have not played a lot of bomber escorts in PWCG neither, even for other careers such as Spitfire 349 sq (I am regularly escorted by P47D but I never escort otehr fighter bombers) 1

That's kinda strange too! Feel like I should be escorting P-47's, not the other way around.
PatrickAWlson Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 P51 units are something like 80/20 fighter to attack. P47 units are 60/40 or 50/50. However, the P47 units are still fighter units. While you are much less likely to get an attack mission in P51s, when you do get one you may be escorted by any available fighter outfit. Often that will be P47s.

PatrickAWlson Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Escort missions are there. This being a tactical sim they are less common. If you want them more often: Campaign->Configuration->Advanced Configuration->Fighter Mission Types Increase the value of "Allied Escort Missions". 1
Spidey002 Posted April 2, 2022 Author Posted April 2, 2022 I don't ever see any B-25's out there. Is this because they are AI only (and so not in PWCG)?

Spidey002 Posted April 2, 2022 Author Posted April 2, 2022 Thanks, Pat! I can see that now when I look under Intelligence. I wonder why I never see them... ? I'm in the 352nd Fighter group stationed at Aachen. ~Spidey
PatrickAWlson Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 Every squadron is assigned a mission in PWCG. After that the missions are pared down to those the player is likely to encounter. Both B25 units are British. I havbe Americans flying the A20. I think that B25 missions, which tend to target infrastructure, tend to be further away from the player if the player is playing a fighter career. Another reason is that bomber inclusion is limited to avoid the CPU hit. Still, they do show up every once in awhile. Their squadron profile is similar to Ju88s and He111s on the German side, and those planes are always seen. 2

While not a PWCG mission, I was looking for something similar but just wanted to give it a try. This mission was created, P51's escorting B25's but the bombing of the target is bugged. Currently waiting for a fixed version to arrive, however if you want to just esxort bombers and then get bounced by fighters at the end of the mission, here's a lnk.
