A recent demo showed France segment of Blitz map through "soup". Opportunity to clarify whether "soup" is trueSKY or provides some other benefit has not been utilized. Very busy no doubt  ?

As recently seen in the forums, apparently TFS is not responding to these kind of question. From now, my friend, we are forced to rely on ourselves. For the moment this is what I've found in the internet, I hope it is some help https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soup

Not finding "soup" referenced on the trueSKY website so probably a special Blitz "recipe"  ?

Only TFS knows. By "this soup" I think Pattle wanted to say something like "haze" or "mist". Look for these words in the TrueSky website, whatever this website is. Do you talk about this site? https://simul.co/ (these guys are in Liverpool).

Using the word soup most likely refers to what air crew described certain weather conditions as:

pea-souper

/piːˈsuːpə/

noun

informal•British

noun: pea-souper; plural noun: pea-soupers

a very thick yellowish fog.

"he was alone in one of London's infamous pea-soupers"

The above is from Google dictionary.

I would think that this is part of the new weather system because I cannot recall ever seeing such weather in

Blitz/Tobruk in any campaign I have played, mainly sun or clouds, nothing much of a variety than those so this

will most likely add quite a variable amount of weather that will be useful in all seasons.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

The video seen was from the alpha build of trueSKY.

We continue to work on integrating the program into BLITZ/TOBRUK.

It is generally working well with 2d play, but there are issues with 3D play using VR headsets which we are addressing.

It will be released along with the rest of the Visual Update package, which will include 4k terrain, 4k aircraft externals and cockpits, updated Speedtree vegetation, VR and trueSKY.

No date on that yet.

So the VR "beta" could remain "private" well into the future as it is only one piece of a larger project of which at least one component is currently in "alpha build" state.

Nice first trueSKY vid.

Nice first trueSKY vid.

Being tested in the VR Beta are:

- VR Implementation

- trueSKY
- 4k aircraft cockpits and externals

- 4k terrain with updated Channel Map objects/terrain/bridges/etc.

Plus various optimizations to improve framerate, etc.

Speedtree is not yet integrated into the VR beta.

Hello,

a quick question: will implementation of TrueSky also add weather effects (rain/snow) or it will "only" add more realistic looking clouds?

Kind regards,

sunrrrise

PS. I have several dozens hours in Blitz/Tobruk, but I am still finding new details. You are amazing!

Initially with the first release we will only have the clouds/fog/etc... not rain or snow.

We will add the rain/snow when we have the moisture on the cockpit glass/perspex graphics changes done.
