Nice to see the Fw-189 pulling ahead of everything!! ? I agree. After that I'd go for a Fi-156 and then probably a Ju-188 or He-162.

 

For Japan I'd go earlier in the war, when the Japanese stood more of a chance - so probably a Ki-43 (that lovely low wing-loading)!

 

P.S. Out of the Italian options I think the Saetta fits best with the existing modules and was also the most numerous fighter produced (other than the G.50 and C.2002 and the biplanes)

Interesting note - when I posted this the Fw-189 was well in the lead. This has changed.

 

This is often the case in my experience - the people who are on the forum all the time tend to prefer less flashy but more unusual aircraft. So those aircraft carry the vote initially. However, a larger number of people are on the forum less frequently and prefer something flashier - a sportscar or an experimental superweapon.

 

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with either. I think it is good to have both. The Go-229 on the SWOTL box got me into flight sims, the more unusual aircraft keep my interest in flight sims alive in spite of having been around them for a long time. It is a good combo.

For me the question is difficult as you say in either current or upcoming BoX. If we deal with only the theaters we have I would want aircraft that feature in those theaters, for the Germans I would select the Fw-189, the Italians the C200 and the Japanese take your pick. If we are assuming we are getting a new map then assuming that map is say Italy in 1943 I would take the 109G6/AS(would prefer the Do-217), the C205 or G55 and if we had a Pacific theater I would pick the aircraft most likely to be in that theater.

I'm really interested in the Mitsubishi A6M series, but feel it probably should be the main aircraft in a map.  However, on second thought, it could be the new Bf 109 regarding the number of available variants.
