conure Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 (edited) Hey all, I think the new update looks really nice, but I have a problem that is quite pronounced:https://ibb.co/Zzs1QK9https://ibb.co/NKQmGyF They're quite clear in game in motion, more so than in the screenshot - but you can make them out I think. Wonder if anyone else has seen these, and if so, is there a way to alleviate them? Thanks Edited March 16, 2022 by conure
Goffik Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Yeah, I'm seeing quite bad banding in the clouds as well, even during bright daylight. I didn't fly enough between the cloud patch and this one to know if this patch made it worse though. The sky looks fine, but my clouds look like yours. I use VR, though I don't know if that makes any difference.
conure Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 Hmm thanks for the confirmation - if it's not my setup and it's just a result of the new lighting I'll learn to ignore it :)
[CPT]Crunch Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 Could those possibly be caused by the perspex on the German canopies? Check and see with another builders canopy. I had horrendous reflection and glare problems with bright sunlight in the early 109's with the sun to my back, was doing something very similar with the circles. Possible the canopy effects need to be tweaked a bit to work correct with the new environmental effects.

Unfortunately not, you get the same banding even in open cockpit planes or with external cameras. It is basically the banding we had before with the clouds (there was never any mention of that being addressed, only the sky banding), it's just a tad more apparent now perhaps or because attention was focused on "new sky technology" more people paid better attention to it. As the OP says when it is in motion it is much more apparent.
KevPBur Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 I had this too and can confirm that unsetting the Cinematic view in the the display settings will fix it. This setting is listed as only effecting external views but the last update made it applicable for all views
