Dual Axis Assignments? (Rudder: Stick twist plus throttle paddle .. Thrustmaster T.16000M HOTAS)

So I've got a Thrustmaster T.1600M HOTAS

For YEARS and years and years I've controlled rudder using twist joysticks. That's all fine and good, but in some cases very awkward to apply rudder when needed in certain stick positions.

So I decided to ALSO assign rudder to the paddle on the throttle so I can use either as the situation requires.

Sadly, this has caused ONLY the paddle to work to control rudder. The game no longer recognizes stick-twist for rudder.  I would like to maintain BOTH for controlling the rudder.

Sometimes, as stated, the stick position inhibits rudder control when using twisty stick. Similarly, when using the throttle's paddles, it sometimes inhibits my use of the mini-joystick on the throttle to control my view. (Specifically right rudder while looking right ... I don't currently have working head tracking. Problem moot if (when) I get that sorted out)

In such cases I would like the twisty stick to control the rudder.

More clearly, I want BOTH axis to be usable for rudder so I can switch as needed when otherwise impeded.

 

Ideally I get some rudder pedals. Sure. $$$

I've considered plugging in my racing wheel & pedals so I can use the pedals for rudder, but it's not the same. PLUS it adds yet another joystick to the assignable controls, which could potentially confuse the game. (maybe? ... more likely confuse me LOL)

Sure. There could be potential issues if (when) I try to use both at once to control rudder. But eventually I'll get used to using the one most appropriate for the situation.
