Blitzen Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) I bought TC as soon as I could hoping that in some of its missions or campaigns we might see combat with larger numbers of tanks & I remember one third party mission featuring Pz III’s that did have the visual impact of 10 or so vehicles, but nothing recently of note.of course I could have missed it too. I suspect the sim is limited in terms of how many vehicles can be on the move at one time, but perhaps at some future date we’ll be able to pack in more action than we do at this point? BlitzPig_EL Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Not sure about single player, but I have a multiplayer mission I made on the Rhineland map that has a fair amount of air assets, and large numbers of truck convoys, artillery units, some river barges, and the biggest number of tanks and other AFVs I have ever put on a map. Even with only four human players, three in tanks, and one in the air, I have reached a point where things are getting glitchy. And this is nowhere near the amount of tanks alone that took part in the real battle at Kursk.

Is it possible to play it as a single mission-I remember that in the original IL-2 way back when coop could be played in a sort of SM mode. Not sure about GB Box TC ….?
BP_Lizard Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 I remember playing a single mission created by Tad (can’t remember the exact title) that had an overwhelming number of German tanks vs quite a few Russian tanks. But that was during the early years if TC with the low resolution AIs.
SCG_Neun Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 (edited) You can put a surprising number of assets into a mission from the AI perspective, and the game on the ground will push through even on a highly taxed server, hence the famous multiplayer server warning that pops up on some of the action packed servers out there. On one of our routine missions, I place at least 50 plus AT weapons, 4 to 6 artillery bombardments, AI aircraft overhead, and a minimum of 40 plus tanks, and an equal number of armored vehicles. Throw in a handful of machine guns, flak firing, smoke wafting up... and the game can support a lot. Granted, you have to watch your resources that they don't fire up all at once, but everything I've mentioned is set to some kind of proximity trigger working in the background as well. We have recently noticed however that congregation of 12 or more players in a specific combat area at times will chug the system a bit, but that is something we have only noticed recently with something we play called Tactical Tank Duel, and it's wierd that this particulary scenario only has tank on tank, and all our players, so no AI running and the server showing no strain, but the lag is there and this has been repeated on two of our last missions. As far as reaching out on a grand scale, either in the air or on the ground, I think GB on both a multiplayer and single player mode is limited in replicating the battlefield on a grand scale. For me personally, I am very well satisfied on immersion focused at the squad level where the battlefield concerns limit themselves to my immediate objective at hand, and then on to the next one.....
