Wow... got my Heinkel stuck up a tree!

Playing around with the awesome advanced quick mission builder - Hurricanes attacking Heinkels, Moscow map, large woods. This Heinkel came in for a very slow crash-landing into the woods and the airframe ended up stuck up in the trees, haha! I've never seen this happen before. The machine was just sitting there up in the trees.

 

Has anyone else managed to land their machine in the trees like this?

I'm guessing you ran into the invincible plane bug. I've seen it happen, but mostly on Bodenplatte. Never seen it with trees involved, though.

 

Example (taken just last week):

He's just floating above the water. You can see the fuel leaking from the wings, straight down. Planes that do this will sometimes flip around in place, without exploding or sinking into the water. Happens on land, too.

 

It's rare; I've encountered it 6-10 times in hundreds of hours.

Occasionally they do sit in trees:

I did it once, back in the original Il-2. Was dead sticking a P-47. didn't judge things right, and ended up sinking into a little stand of individual trees. The plane got stuck there bouncing between them. I think what was going on was it wasn't hitting them hard enough to trigger the damage processing, so it was just bouncing instead. 

 

I kind of figured it was going to explode eventually, so I bailed out. Fortunately it was close enough to the ground the pilot was able to land ok. Unfortunately, he ran smack into one of the trees and dropped on the spot. Also, unfortunately, that was within the blast radius when the physics engine finally figured out wth was going on...
