Fuel gauges and engine overheating

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anybody provide pictures of where the fuel gauges are located in all the tanks? It's a little annoying running out of fuel while on a long scouting mission/heavy combat. Also, is engine overheating by high RPM/high load modeled? I've never overheated except when the radiators are hit by enemy (and sometimes friendly) fire.

If you press Esc during a mission, you will see a Station Notes menu that will point out where everything is in the vehicle.

I am fully aware of that.

Wow been playing for over a year and never ran out of fuel.  Nice job.  I would say go to the Driver view and look around at the gauges.  I'll have to try that next time I'm playing.  And yes, at least in multiplayer, you can overheat your engines on a steep downhill if you don't brake.  I find if the Panther or the Tiger get up over 60-65kph for more than a few seconds you will see an engine overheat.  This really only happens on long steep down hills like you'd find in Kuban or some Stalingrad maps.

That is overrev, not overheat, though.

Overheat might happen, when you reduce the highest gear, because you don't want to drive as fast as possible. Then the AI driver drives your tank constantly with maximum rpm. I remember in one of the SdKfz 10/5 in game missions, I had to reduce the maximum gear, because the convoi following was moving slower, than I did with maximum gear. With that I damaged my engine after some time. Unfortunately the AI drivers can't handle this.
