jollyjack Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 QMB with a few added Aircos for targeting or dogfight practice .... it seems the gun men on any airco keeps on firing at you at all times, and even when his plane goes down with no wings etc. until it crashes. But that Albatross is a nice bugger ... Albatros vs Airco v1a.zip 1
=IRFC=kotori87 Posted March 12, 2022 Posted March 12, 2022 Did you actually *hit* the gunners? Having flown as the gunner in a DH4 on the Flugpark, I can assure you they can be shot and killed. That said, hitting a human-sized target on a kite the size of a DH4 can be pretty hard, and they have a VERY good field of fire. I've been fooled into thinking I killed the bugger on several occasions, when in fact he'd just stopped to reload. Asides from shooting the gunner dead, I've only ever seen him stop firing the pilot is shot dead, or if the pilot is pulling 2G or more. If the pilot dies, the gunner always jumps out, parachute or no. If the pilot pulls too many G's, the AI gunner will refuse to shoot until the G load drops back down. He'll still track his target with his gun, and he'll still stand up if he spots somebody coming in, he just has a weak trigger finger that can't overcome 2G of acceleration. The moment the pilot drops under 2G, however, he'll open fire and shoot you in the face. There is no restriction on the gunner based on spinning, crashing, etc. So even if the pilot rips his wings off, the gunner can keep firing because 1) the pilot isn't dead, and 2) he hasn't hit his G limit. Never mind the violent spinning and the rapidly-approaching mud, or flames spreading from the engine, he'll find a way to head-shot you with that last golden bullet. If you think that's rough, wait until you face a competent human gunner on comms with his pilot. There's a reason we call the Bristol a Fighter. 2 1
