DragonDaddy Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 I recently did a clean install of IL2 on Windows 11. Before I did I saved my startup, input, snapviews, mission and campaign files. I installed these in the appropriate places on the new install. When the game started it asked me to select the input devices I wanted to use, which I did. When I went to the in-game settings it shows the key mapping settings I had saved and applied. Unfortunately, my joystick, throttle and flight pedals do not respond even though they appear in key mapping. What am I missing here? Is there another step to the process or a temporary file that needs to be deleted? I really want to avoid having to re-map my joystick, throttle and flight pedals. Your help is greatly appreciated.
jollyjack Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 If your windows 11 has Setup USB game controllers (type game in Windows start-searchbox) you can check if the drivers are there and working for windows (properties). If possible try another game, like the free version of Rise of Flight, Cliffs of Dover (if there's a free version). For IL2 it might me a JoyID number issue; you could change the ID# order with JoyID.exe.
DragonDaddy Posted March 11, 2022 Author Posted March 11, 2022 (edited) All of the controllers show up, and work, in Windows Game Controllers. Could you please explain further what you mean about changing the JoyID numbers and what this might do. Thanks Edited March 11, 2022 by DragonDaddy Typo
jollyjack Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 (edited) Sorry, just saw this. JoyIDs.exe is a free program, you can use it to change the ID# number order ... Edited March 16, 2022 by jollyjack
DragonDaddy Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 Thanks, jollyjack! I think there may have been some corrupted files involved. I ended up reinstalling the sim and manually keymapping the joystick, throttle and flight pedals. It wasn’t as much work as I originally thought and all is working fine again.
