Misty06 Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 I had heard of Erich before but dug a little on a few sites. There is a discussion on the forums here you will find about some controversy with some of his kills. Bottom line as the record exists he is the leading FW-190 ace. He lived until 2016 age 98 - anyone can dig more if you want to read up a bit on him. Sorry to say I can find no books he wrote, or books on him. Wiki is a good place to start your dig. Flew exclusively in JG2, JG54 , and at the wars end in Me-262s with JG7. That said - I can find no skins of any of his birds here or at Haluters. Before he was in 190s he flew 109F4s with JG2 (Yellow 9 )in France around 42. There are a few examples/color plates out there if your GOOG ""Erich Rudorffer planes"" I was just surprised that no one had skinned the aircraft of the leading 190 ace or someone who was at least close to the top 3 - I think if he is the leader then it is , Lang and Kittel or vice -v. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_Rudorffer 1
JG7_X-Man Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 I see no controversy issue in my book - some 200 +/- 10 kills, at the end of the day it's just a number.
Misty06 Posted March 11, 2022 Author Posted March 11, 2022 Copy JG7X I do not put much stock care or concern in it to be sure. ALL fair substantive discussion is good. That said I am just hoping someone skins his planes - that's it as far as I am concerned. There have been claims on fraudulent claims on a lot of aces - I read if interested and drive on. When aces of any country have shot so many aircraft down ( usually Germans ) I generally accept it to the honor of those involved and the known historical environments they flew in - and how long they flew in it. Again to be redundant - I am about the skins - flying in IL2 BOS and having fun. Flowbee covered both Kittel and Lang's 190 A8s.
RaFiGer Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 (edited) @Misty06 I you like you find a Fw-190 A6 paint scheme of Rudorffer's plane during his assignment to Detachment Kuhlmey with II./JG 54 (German: Gefechtsverband Kuhlmey) on my page related to that time period June/July 1944: https://rafiger.de/Homepage/IL2-BOS-Museum/Info-JG54/Info-JG54-Finland.htm The Webpage was old related to A5-Models, but I have updated the content now with the skins for the Fw-109 A6 models togehter with my Normal Map File! Misty06 Posted March 15, 2022 Author Posted March 15, 2022 A JG54 190A5 of Erich Rudorffer can be found in this file : https://www.mediafire.com/file/tcpfhdtkhond86e/Fw190A5.part1.rar/file This is located here with gobs of other skins - I have already posted this link - but here it is again nonetheless : https://www.mediafire.com/folder/wkayv5lc4b5xi/ 28 NOV 1940 BoB II JG2 Rudorffer was with Meimburg, Pflanz and Helmut Wick when Wick was shot down offshore near the Isle of Wight. https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Erich_Rudorffer https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Helmut_Wick https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Julius_Meimberg https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Rudolf_Pflanz https://www.chch.ox.ac.uk/fallen-alumni/flight-lieutenant-john-charles-dundas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Dundas_(RAF_officer) LEFT TO RIGHT IN PHOTO : WICK, DUNDAS (RAF) , PFLANZ Within scant minutes - Dundas killed Wick, Pflanz killed Dundas While there was hope Wick might have survived, evidently Rudorffer saw where rounds had torn through the right trailing edge of Wick's wing and made a mess of the cockpit area when the rounds entered the right side of the canopy/cockpit area. It seems to be evident Rudorffer did not reveal this in the post action immediacy of the event. One wonders if he simply hoped he was wrong. 2
