Was at the Shackleton museum in Kildare just last month, embarrassed to say I never knew he was born in Ireland.

Surprisingly yes, all crew survived. It sank because of ice slowly crushing it beyond seaworthiness.

 

(Also acknowledging the question may have been posed facetiously, in which case, ? )

Amazing.  Shackleton rescued the lot by sailing 750 miles in a 22-foot open boat from Elephant Island to South Georgia Island.
