Both were from a previous studio that disbanded ten years ago. Modders have kept the older titles fresh and 'modern.' Straight answer without the snark: It is easy to get confused, especially since IL2 Great Battles has basically the same name as it's predecessor, IL2 (1946 being the last iteration). They are not the same. Different companies. Probably different developers. pretty sure it's different software from the ground up. No idea what the relationship between the current 1C and the company that built IL2 is. 1946 is no longer under active development as far as I am aware. IL2 Great Battles is, to some degree, the successor. However, different companies, so successor in spirit only. CLOD is being worked on by a third party team. That team is different from the IL2 Great Battles team. That team is also not the team that wrote CLOD originally. Unlike enterprise software, games tend to have a relatively short life. Eventually they are abandoned. Rise of Flight, which was done by this team and formed the foundation for Great Battles, is no longer being worked. Flying Circus is the successor. IL2 is done. CLOD, still being maintained. Bodenplatte and Normandy are both Great Battles products. Bodenplatte is fully released. Normandy is not. 2 6
