What you’re seeing in the game is the effect of the necessary FOV in order for you to actually be able to see your own cockpit. It’s as if your virtual eyes are on the back of your head to give you a bigger field of view. Otherwise in some of these small cockpits you wouldn’t be able to see the instrument panel, especially in the WWI aircraft in RoF where this engine comes from. So yeah when you turn around your “eyes” are up in front of the cockpit. DCS did something similar with the old A-10C
