Mysticpuma Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I have to say I enjoyed the FL this year and was looking forward to bing close to authentic looking re-enactors. They certainly didn't disappoint and I got some great shots (well I think I got some great shots, you'll have to decide).I know many of you are expert aircraft photographer's, but I had a try at making the images I shot a little more 'old school'.Hope you like them?Cheers, MPPS. I realise the first image isn't 'old-school' but I shot it on my Windows phone as I prepared to depart on the second day and was quite pleased with the result 4
MACADEMIC Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Awesome pictures and post production MP! Those are poster quality! Thanks for sharing! MAC 1
DD_Arthur Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) MP; the sepia shots are really interesting but your picture of the Balbo is fantastic and really captures the climax of the show! Was there for the Saturday with friends and we roasted steadily out on the tank bank but it was well worth it. Edited July 15, 2013 by arthursmedley 2
FlatSpinMan Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 These pics have sold me. I am going. That flyby looks insane! I can't imagine the noise! I have seen about 9 Texans/Harvard's flying overhead at about 400m and the noise just about split the sky in two.
SYN_Blackrat Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) Arthursmedly, Syn guys were on the tank bank too on Saturday, at the far right as you look at the runway, great day but warm, I took some phots and put them all up on our forum, not sure I should post the link here, some good and some not so good. All on Flickr, here are a few I teased out of the sun and heat. Some very artistic images there MP, I like them MF__1881.jpg by Mark2703, on Flickr MF__2202.jpg by Mark2703, on Flickr MF__1973.jpg by Mark2703, on Flickr MF__1898.jpg by Mark2703, on Flickr MF__1793.jpg by Mark2703, on Flickr Edited July 17, 2013 by SYN_Blackrat
Mysticpuma Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 And now a little bit of video from the event too! I would have used the original audio but the camera shutters going off all around and the annoying French commentator (who just wouldn't shut up!) made me decide against that! Cheers, MP BTW. Syn_Blackrat, really nice images. I spotted that moon just peaking out and was hoping that I'd get an angle to use it, but sadly I just didn't! Nice capture (as they all are), but well spotted on the moon shot Cheers, MP 1
I/JG27_Rollo Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 [...] commentator (who just wouldn't shut up!) [...] Now there's something that definitely hasn't changed over the last 10 years. Great photos everyone!
SYN_Blackrat Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Cracking Video, agreed about the commentator at the beginning, thks the moon shot was just there, I saw the first routine and hoped the pilot would do the same and I was obliged by just one chance, one shot and it worked. There are more on the flickr photostream BTW. Cheers Rollo.
Mysticpuma Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 Completely 'Raw' footage showing a few brief clips of the Yak's in action at the show. No audio or video editing (so video looks rough ), but these clips are so you can hear the engine sounds as I heard them, and how the microphone on my camera picked them up (with cameras clicking and commentator waffling away!). Video still being processed, so if it is blank when you click it, give it a few minutes Cheers, MP
I/JG27_Zimmi Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Really awesome photos, thanks for sharing. I damn myself for canceling the trip one monthe ago due to work.
FlatSpinMan Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Aside from those ghastly, misshapen Buchon 109s, those were some great grabs you got. I still don't know anything about the Soviet birds, but they looked gorgeous in the video you posted. Thank you.
