Self extinguisher Yak?

Recommended Posts

You seem to sulk quite a bit no?

Yes it happens. I've had instances where I've lit both 110 wings on fire and it goes out right away. Or a 109 that I lit on fire multiple times because .50s can still be pretty anemic.

Spitfires that explode for a split second but seems to be ok after the fact.

Cheers

Happens in every plane.

And is god damn annoying, but is not a Yak exclusive thing.

I'm pretty sure that "flash" fires - or fires that suddenly erupt and then self-extinguish, even with a steady leaking fuel flow - are a thing in real life.  How common they would be under such circumstances and/or the probability of them happening so often under combat damage conditions is most-likely impossible to quantify.   In other words:  Possible?  Yes.   How probable? Unknown.

Yaks did have a compressed nitrogen bottle, and a valve connecting the fuel tanks.

The self extinguishing bug also is apparent with Fokker Dr.1
