Vishnu Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) NVIDIA System Information 02-28-2022 08-25-51.txt<----Graphic card info I was wondering if PWCG or IL2 would benefit from me getting more RAM. I fly solely in VR, and use PWCG almost exclusively. I never play online. I have PWCG set on low in all categories on the simple config....except the CPU..which I leave on high. I notice that when I reach target, if there is alot of aircraft in area, it seems to go in slow motion although I'm still getting decent frames. Any observations would be greatly appreciated. I hope this screenshot of my specs, helps.... If you need any more information, let me know how to provide it. Thanks in advance. Vish Edited February 28, 2022 by Vishnu
TheSNAFU Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) The game has a reputation for the slow downs you reference. This typically happens when there is a high level of ground and/or air activity and is heightened by lower pc specs. You could reduce cpu in pwcg which should help avoid the slowdowns to some extent. I doubt more ram on its own would make much difference. Edited February 28, 2022 by TheSNAFU 1
PatrickAWlson Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 The game is CPU bound. RAM always helps to the extent that it prevents accessing the disk(very slow) and gets data from memory instead. However, in the end it is up to the CPU to process all of the internal calculations, FM and AI, that the game demands. PWCG is out of the picture, except for the fact that it puts lots of stuff into missions. Beyond that, once the mission is made, it is up to the game to run it as well as it can. With that in mind, turn CPU to low. This will cause PWCG to generate fewer CPU devouring units (bombers). 1
