Any easier ways of navigating in Blitz/Tobruk

Never could master the the correct way fast enough.

Any advice for an older gent?

Thanks

Turn on the map aids under difficulty settings. You can have your aircraft shown on the map when flying, for example.
Your path and waypoints should be visible at all times (wasn‘t the case in the past).

Looking at the ground looking for prominent features and comparing to what you see on the map. Then following the features.

Even on Tobruk this is possible, albeit only closer to the coast. Look for the few roads, cliffs, the bunched up airfields (circular patches with different colors) and „chicken feet“ coming from the coast.

On the Channel you can follow rivers, towns and coastal features.

Or dead reckoning (when in the middle of the desert, for example).

There are tools you can use on the map. Once you have the map up, right click it and select tools. It will give you what you need to mark points and heading (and iirc distance) between them.
Then you would need to calculate speed and time your movement if you can‘t follow terrain features to keep your progress and adjust direction. This is a bit harder. Or like mentioned above, turn your own plane on on the map under difficulty settings.

Remember to account for true airspeed and magnetic deviation ?

TF includes a navigation wheel in the manual folder you can print out and assemble. I only have the German one, can‘t recall if there is also one for the RAF types. The units are different.

Or use this one here for Luftwaffe types:

And this for RAF:

Also see here for a bunch of information (including those links)

There is also radio navigation implemented in the game, but I think this is already going too far. Considering you wanted an easier way…
