ShamrockOneFive Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Welcome to the community! To answer some of your questions, yes a joystick is very strongly recommended to have when flying IL-2 or other sims. IL-2 does have a mouse control system but its not going to give you the full experience and its not going to be all that pleasant compared to the precision that a joystick offers. If you're serious about getting into IL-2 and flight simming, I'd recommend splashing out about $50 more over that basic Thrustmaster stick and go up to a more capable product in the T.16000M. Better sensors, more buttons, and a good all in-one stick. https://www.thrustmaster.com/en-us/products/t-16000m-fcs/ IL-2 doesn't need mods or tweaks to get going. It does have them (although many of them are not suitable for multiplayer if you get into that) but for the most part you install and get going. Ensure that you have a PC capable of running a sim like this with a strong CPU, RAM, and GPU. IL-2 is more forgiving and smoother running than any other sim that I have but it still does need a good strong baseline. Once you have it and you're getting started, I recommend two resources to get yourself started: Air Combat Tutorial library has videos on everything you could need from landing and takeoff to advanced combat tactics: https://www.youtube.com/user/RequiemBoS Check out the Flight School Campaigns with custom training campaigns for almost every aircraft in the series: 1 1
Fereal Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 thank you i gonna order that joystick and try out in the game and i must see this tutorials thank you again
JimTM Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Welcome Fereal. Have a look at the information from many community members and the developers in the IL-2 Resources post.
Ojeda Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 if you can buy the game now that it has a discount.
PatrickAWlson Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 I think a joystick is a necessity. Not just for controlling the plane but also for a view control hat switch (assuming no VR or Track IR). I believe that the game has some ease of use settings that eliminate the need for rudder pedals and throttle can be controlled via keyboard. Padlock can be used to follow targets. The mini map can be used for situational awareness. So, yeah, a joystick.
twilson37 Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 I would recommend the Thrustmaster Tflight Hotas 4 joystick throttle combo, you can find for about $60 here is the US and has a throttle and rudder control. Once you get the game there are tons of videos out on YouTube for all of the aircraft flyable in game. You can play with the difficulty settings to suit your needs and adjust them as you get more proficient. Good luck and enjoy

If Russia were to be excluded from the SWIFT financial system because of certain happenings that we're not allowed to discuss, it's conceivable that it's not actually possible to buy IL2 next week.

The best starter joystick is the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. Start with that stick and if you like it move on to VKB.

You do need a three axis joystick though (i.e. one with 'twist') in order to fly well. The twisting of the joystick controls the rudder. Suggested additions: - I would also suggest the U-2VS Collector Plane from the store. It is a biplane which can be used for training - and it is very good for flying low and sight-seeing. Just don't dive too fast in it! - You might also consider getting Battle of Stalingrad - it is the cheapest way to get new aircraft and a map (you get some lovel Steppe/Prairie and 8 aircraft for less than a dollar per plane)! Tips: - Don't expect to be perfect at first. Landing and shooting take time to learn. Find activities you enjoy. - For target practice attack the Ju-52 and C-47, they are transport aircraft. Relax and explore different approaches: Using the gunsight to aim vs. using the tracers; Thinking about the target vs thinking about your airplane vs. not thinking at all; Firing short bursts vs. firing longer bursts. Find whatever 'groove' works best for you. - Be careful not to pull back on the stick too hard. If you try to turn too sharply the air over one wingtip will be disrupted and your plane will spin. Instead enter and exit turns smoothly. Explore getting used to a single plane at a time, and at what speed and sharpness of turn the aircraft begins to shake or enters a spin. Relax and get used to not spinning. - Landing is another challenge. I'll let others give you tips for that though - but I will say that some aircraft are much easier to land than others. Expect to make mistakes and be glad you can have fun without the risks of being a real life fighter pilot. 1
